AD elects new national chairman

The Alliance for Democracy (AD) has elected Chief Joseph Avazi as its National Chairman.
Other national officers elected in the party’s national convention held at AFRI Hotel Abuja on December 3, 2015 include, Musa Shehu Deputy National Chairman (North), Professor Clinton Akuche Deputy National Chairman (South), Akin Fashogbon National Secretary, Mrs. Olayinka Nola Publicity Secretary Ismail Ayodele National Auditor and Deaconess Abigail Aina National Women Leader.
The immediate past National Chairman, Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa was unanimously elected the party’s National Leader and Chairman Board of Trustees.
The party also amended its constitution to extend the tenure of its national officers from three years to four years and included the positions of National Women Leader and Deputy, National Youth Leader and Deputy, National Organizing Secretary and Deputy, Deputy National Chairman North and South, Board of Trustees and payment of nomination fees for various elections as decided by National Executive Committee in the Constitution.
In his acceptance speech, the new National Chairman, Chief Joseph Avazi promised to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor, Senator Akinfenwa and ensure AD became the leading progressive party in Africa.
In a release signed and issued yesterday by Mrs. Olayinka Nola, AD’s National Publicity Secretary, the new National Chairman said he would rebrand the party and empower its members with a view to winning state and national elections in 2019.
He pledged to run an open door policy, strengthen internal democracy and be gender sensitive in the task of building a credible alternative or platform to offer Nigerians the real change they desire.
The convention was monitored by INEC Officials led by Damian Akame, with Bola Oni and Masud Hassan.
